The Guesthouse

A mansion of 1851 at the Square of Agia Kyriaki, located on the main cobbled road of Dimitsana owned by Spiros Kazakos.
At that time Its ground floor hosted a grocery store, while its domed part was used as a stable and a cellar.

With its frontage in the Square of the historical metropolitan Church of Agia Kyriaki (the patron saint of the city of Dimitsana) and its side facing the old cobbled main road, it is estimated as an imposing building of especial architecture, with the unique arch of Dimitsana over the public cobbled road, the dome at the ground floor with its windows and door, which are constructed with an especial art.
The courtyard with its arched gate and guest check-in deposits constitute a harmonious ensemble, which takes us back to the era after the Greek Revolution alongside with its special features.

The Cathedral of Agia Kyiriaki on the Square was founded and built by King Otto in 1834.  The Public Library was established in 1764 while also functioning as a hieratic faculty, where Germanos of Old Patras and Patriarch Gregory V (who was hanged) had studied. (The statue of Patriarch Gregory V is in front of the guesthouse). Many of the books of the library were used as "munitions" in the Greek Revolution of 1821, and advocated the choice of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) to renovate the building in 1993 within the frame of the program for the "preservation of the traditional architecture in Greece."

The Guesthouse Kazakou is an integral part of the town's history, since for a certain period its spacious rooms were converted into classrooms of the Primary School of Dimitsana, which today is just opposite of the house.

There are five guest rooms in total with an authentic traditional decoration,  offering double, triple and quadruple spacious rooms with modern amenities.

Accommodation with view

The rooms have a view of the square of Agia Kiriaki, with the primary school, the public library, the suburban forest of Dimitsana, the cobbled road and the gorge of Lucius river up to the lowland of Megalopolis.

The building has three floors, the ground floor where the reception is located, with a fire-stove and where the breakfast is being served at the dome, while in the afternoon this room is offered for tea or other activities.

The earthy colors combined with the natural materials of stone and wood create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, which is becoming even warmer under the candlelight available in all rooms.
